Bridgend County Borough Council: dog rules

Council-wide dog rules, beaches and named places

Rules added

1 May to 30 September: no dogs on Rest Bay, Sandy Bay (Coney Beach), Town Beach and Trecco Bay in Porthcawl (Beaches layer).
Pick up after your dog in all public spaces and carry bags.
Put your dog on a lead if an officer asks.
Keep dogs off children's play areas, marked sports pitches and school grounds where signed.

New borough-wide order approved September 2026.

Assistance dogs: most council dog orders and beach bans exempt assistance dogs, such as guide and hearing dogs. Check the source if you are unsure.
