Canterbury City Council: dog rules
Council-wide dog rules, beaches and named places
We've only partly added this council's dog rules. Check the source for the full order.
Partly added
- Pick up after your dog anywhere covered by the order.
- Dogs on a lead of 2 metres or less on the listed sites, and when an officer asks.
- No dogs on listed play areas and other sites.
- Herne Bay and Whitstable beach rules are on the Beaches layer.
Current order from May 2024. A replacement with clearer maps, and some areas removed, was consulted on to 1 October 2026.
Assistance dogs: most council dog orders and beach bans exempt assistance dogs, such as guide and hearing dogs. Check the source if you are unsure.
